Overview

Daiken North America LTD is seeking a Quality Technical Specialist to work at our Huntsville, ON facility, (formerly Panolam Industries LTD).

 

The Quality Technical Specialist role is responsible for administering and ensuring product compliance to the company quality program in accordance with Customer and Company requirements. This role serves as a liaison between the customer and the plant personnel. This role also manages the company ISO and compliance program and works on environmental and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all lab and technical activities
  • Maintain the Composite Panel Association (CPA)/Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP) Certification Program
  • Assist in testing and evaluating any new products (trials)
  • Maintain to calibration of testing equipment throughout the plant
  • Assist production in determining if a product falls within specification
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing data for analysis
  • Manage, establish, implement and maintain an efficient Quality Management System (QMS) throughout the organization as required by ISO 9001-2000
  • Report the performance of the QMS on an ongoing basis as well as to ensure compliance by all departments
  • Collect, analyze and communicate customer requirements, customer complaints and customer feedback throughout the organization
  • Act as company representative with the CPA
  • Oversee and participate in environmental monitoring and compliance
  • Arrange and conduct ISO audits and ISO Management review meetings
  • Deal with customer complaints, claims, returns and technical requests
  • Coordinate and provide technical assistance with product trials
  • Provide technical assistance throughout the plan as required
  • Oversee testing programs and calibration programs set out
  • Assist in the evaluation of nonconforming products in the plant
  • Evaluate and develop improved techniques for control of quality and reliability
  • Work with the Lab Technician as a team to complete all daily production testing and reporting as required
  • Report any products inspected or tested that is out of specification
  • Ensure up to date specifications and standards are issued and followed and that all material produced is following these specifications and standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 Essential Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience in industrial particleboard/treating/laminating manufacturing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, trouble shooting and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with people of all levels and departments to garner resources and knowledge needed to accomplish goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field
  • Knowledge of industrial, H&S and quality standards
  • ISO Auditor training

Work Environment: Manufacturing and/or office daily

Physical Demands: This job requires the ability to sit, climb, stand, lift and/or move 50lbs.  

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday.
